Jim Shannon MP chats to youth interested in aeronautics at Ards Airfield
Jim Shannon, DUP MP for Strangford, has said that he was privileged to attend an aviation event for young people at Ards Airfield on last Friday.
He said: “It was great to speak with a group of young people from all over Northern Ireland who are interested in aviation and attending this one-day conference.
“Interest in aviation and aerospace is certainly on the rise in Northern Ireland.
“I encouraged those young women and men that they could achieve their dreams whether that is to be a pilot or in the crew or design and build planes etc using the latest techology at their fingertip.
“Northern Ireland has the facility and infrastructure to help you in your career in aeronautics.
“I spoke of a young man who went to school with one of my sons and through the help of the team at Ards Airfield and with an awful lot of hard work, he achieved his goal and is now a pilot.
“So I congratulate Lesley and the team at Ards Airfield for a tremendous event as they inspire our youth to achieve their goals and thank them for the invitation along with the Mayor of Ards to play a small part in that great wee event at Ards Airfield.”
