Two Arrested In Downpatrick After Suspected Drugs Find

Drugs discovery in Downpatrick leads to two arrests


Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Organised Crime Branch have made two arrests and recovered a quantity of suspected Class A controlled drugs in Downpatrick.

Detective Sergeant Foley said: “On Wednesday 17thxa0July, officers conducted searches at two properties in the town under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

“A quantity of suspected Class A controlled drugs were recovered at both properties. A number of mobile phones, drugs paraphernalia and approximately £2,000 in cash were also seized during the proactive policing operation.

“A 45 year old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of criminal property, possession of Class A Controlled drugs and possession of Class A controlled drugs with intent to supply.

“Also, a 19-year old male was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A Controlled drugs and possession of Class A controlled drugs with intent to supply. Both are currently in police custody at this time.

“Police are committed to making Northern Ireland a hostile environment for those in our community who are involved in thexa0drugsxa0trade and anyone involved in thexa0drugsxa0trade, or anyone tempted to become involved should be under no illusion – we will seek to identify them, arrest them and place them before the courts.

“Police continue to encourage members of the public with concerns about drugs or drug dealing to get in touch and enable us to investigate.
