Clarke Welcomes APEX Commitment To Newcastle Safety

APEX To Address Fire Safety Hazzard

Sinn Féin Councillor Willie Clarke has expressed his satisfaction with the proactive steps taken by APEX Housing Association to address fire safety concerns in the Burren Meadow community.

The Association has pledged to establish a fire break between housing and the flood plain behind the homes, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents.

In a recent meeting with their landscape contractors, APEX confirmed their commitment to this critical project.

Mourne’s Councillor Willie Clarke has welcomed APEX’s decision to address a fire hazzard area next to homes where gorse bushes were adjacent to oil tanks.

A schedule of works has been agreed upon, with the aim of reducing the fire hazard within the next 4-6 weeks.

Residents have raised valid concerns about the proximity of gorse bushes to their oil tanks.

The presence of these flammable shrubs poses a potential risk, as they could ignite and endanger both homes and lives. As the responsible housing authority, APEX will take decisive action to mitigate this threat.

Councillor Clarke extended his gratitude to APEX Property Services Officer Brendan Haughey for his cooperation in resolving this pressing issue.

The collaboration between APEX and local representatives underscores their commitment to the area
