Enjoying her artistic renaissance after acting as editor for BBC Radio Ulster music programmes, Maggie has completed a creative writing MA at Ulster University and has published a poetry collection, “Mountain Notes – A Nature Diary” (2021).
She has also written a song called “Carmel” and composed an instrumental piece which her husband Linley has included in his album, “Making Other Arrangement”.
Maggie also presents a podcast, “The Mountain Gate” which delves into creative arts and nature based around the local Dromara Hills area.
Linley is an accomplished musician having played with many top international artists such as Van Morrison and Paul Brady. He is now ‘Dr Jazz’ as he has recently completed a PhD in Jazz Performance at Ulster University.
Linley explained that the performers meet for drinks with the guests in their farmhouse first and during the performance the players are encouraged to talk about their music.
Then afterwards they mingle over a drink and food where the guests again get another chance to chat to the performers. “It is a unique experience,” he said. “Everyone is just made to feel at home.”
