Ards and North Down PCSP Chair and Vice Chair Meet with PSNI

Representatives from the Ards and North Down Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) recently met with the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) to talk about policing issues affecting the Borough.

PCSP Chairman, Councillor Alistair Cathcart, together with Vice Chair Jo Scott, discussed local issues with PSNI Ards and North Down District Commander, Johnston McDowell, and offered the PCSP’s continued support in helping to reduce crime and improve community safety.

PCSP Chairman, Councillor Cathcart, said: “It was useful to meet with the District Commander to raise issues that are constantly being highlighted by my constituents and residents of the Borough.

“These issues included matters such as anti-social behaviour, parking at schools and the speed of vehicles on our roads.

“The PCSP plays a role in crime prevention, from funding initiatives to reducing anti-social behaviour through the street pastors and sport diversionary projects.

“Also, it provides crime prevention measures in the home and funding support for those affected by domestic violence.

“The PCSP will continue to work with the PSNI and other statutory partners in 2024 to reduce crime and to improve public safety.

“We will also listen to residents by holding a series of public meetings throughout the year to provide them with an opportunity to raise issues that matter to them.”

Vice Chair, Jo Scott, said:

“Meeting with the District Commander enabled us to raise the question of neighbourhood policing and emphasise thexa0need for continuity and visibility.

“It is important thatxa0our residents can make contact with the Neighbourhood Policing Team quickly to make sure we effectively tackle anti-social behaviour and reduce the fear of crime.

“Working together must be the way forward to tackle criminality and make the Borough a safer place to live, work and play.”
