Bangor RNLI presented with a cheque for £2500 by the members of Ballyholme Yacht Club
Ballyholme Yacht Club was busy over the festive period raising funds for Bangor RNLI and pulled together an impressive £2500 from a few different activities.
These funds were raised over a series of events hosted by Ballyholme Yacht Club. A massive £1000 was raised by the proceed of the Christmas Prize Draw and £120 was raised from the proceeds of the Christmas Quiz.
And 140 Cold Water Swimmers braved the elements on Boxing Day for the annual Boxing Day Swim and the club also very kindly donated the £700 entrance money to the charity.
And the icing on the Christmas cake was the very generous and grateful donations in the RNLI collection buckets which raised a further £680.
Commenting on the support that they have received, Tom Bell, Bangor RNLI Lifeboat Press Officer said: ‘We are extremely grateful for the support that we continue to receive from Ballyholme Yacht Cub.
“We cannot thank them enough for their latest donation. The funds they have donated to date equate to kitting out an inshore lifeboat crew member in full personal protective equipment such as drysuit, helmet and lifejacket.
“The funds they have and continue to donate will be used locally at Bangor RNLI Lifeboat Station, allowing us to continue to provide our 24/7 lifesaving service and achieve our overall goal of saving lives at sea.”

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around Ireland and the UK.
They operate 10 lifeboat stations in Northern Ireland and have 11 lifeguarded beaches which they operatesseasonally.
The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service.
Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, the charity has saved over 142,200 lives.
