Mason Addresses Student Transport Issues

Mason says EA transport issues must be resolved for students

Speaking following more contact with parents on school transport issues, South Down Sinn Féin MLA Cathy Mason said:

“Ongoing issues for students travelling to and from Castlewellan to Kilcoo are causing unnecessary pressure for families.xa0

South Down Sinn Féin MLA Cathy Mason with Cllr Leeanne McEvoy at a bus stop in Kilcoo have asked the EA to improve the service to prevent some students being forced to take a long route home.

“In the morning, three direct buses are available from Kilcoo but only 2 in the afternoon.xa0

“Disruption to these direct services means younger students are forced to travel a longer route home, adding a considerable length of time to their journey.

“This isn’t fair on students and the EA mustxa0act and work to meet the demand in the area and ensure direct services are available for those who need them.xa0

“Our rural communities cannot be left behind.

“I will continue to work with the Education Authority to see these services are delivered.”xa0
