Hello? Hello? Hazzard Asks BT To Fix Phone Boxes

Hazzard urges BT to take action over vandalised phone boxes

Sinn Féin MP Chris Hazzard has asked BT to remove those phone boxes across the district that are no longer in use and have become hotspots for antisocial behaviour.

The South Down MP said: “Many of these disused phone boxes are an eyesore in local towns and villages, having been left at the mercy of vandals and they have consequently fallen into an unacceptable condition.xa0

Helloooo ? South Down MP Chris Hazzard has called for repairs to BT phone boxes or their removal.

“Not only are they a blight on the local landscape in this unsightly condition, but they are also a health risk in many cases as they’ve become de facto late night urinals in many of our town centres.

Mr Hazzard added the phone boxes were also an unnecessary obstruction on the footpath, saying removing them would create more space and improved access for pedestrians.

“I have written directly to BT urging them to carry out an assessment to review the use of phone boxes across the district; and remove those no longer in use.”
