With juvenile teams back training, we are seeking coaches to help out with all our juvenile teams. If you would be interested in helping out, please contact Paul O’Shea on 07938915183 or Ruth Curran on 07809290306. All new coaches will receive the relevant training to support them in their role.
Our training continues each week with new members welcomed:
Senior training – Monday & Wednesday at 7pm in Ardtole
G4MO training – Tuesdays at 7.30pm In St Nicholas PS
U13& U11.5 training – Thursdays at 7.30pm in St Nicholas PS
U9.5 & U7.5 training – Saturdays at 10am in St Nicholas PS
Nursery & P1 training – Tuesdays at 6.30pm in St Nicholas PS
U12 & U14 girls training starts back Tuesday 21st February at Ardtole from 6.30pm – 7.30pm.
Social Dance classes continue in St Nicholas Primary School every Friday night at 7.30pm. Perfect session for beginners and newcomers welcome. £5 per session.
Mass for deceased members will take place in St Marys Dunsford on Thursday 2nd March at 7.30pm. Aifreean Cuimhneacháin (as Gaelige) Déardoin 2Ú Márta ag 19.30 I Niamh Mhuire Dunsford.

Bright GAC are keen to develop ladies football in the club and are keen to hear from under 12 girls and under 14 girls for this season.

The club have arranged two events for the summer period :
Saturday 1st of July Bright GAC presents our version of “Bright’s Boogie Bingo” with Simon Walsh – more details to follow.
And Friday 1st September sees “Bright Goes Country” and the welcome return of Hugo Duncan, The fabulous Stephen Smyth , Boxcar Brian and the versatile Country Harmony for a night of music and Craic.

A Night of Scór Celebrations was held for Glasdrumman Scór Sinsear Ballad Group All Ireland Champions 2022 in their Clubrooms on Friday Night. History was made in our Club for Scór achievements in 2022 and our club, community and friends turned out in numbers to celebrate with us.
The Silverware, Shields, Medals & Crystal ware were all on display for everyone to see and appreciate the achievements, dedication, and commitment that had gone into Scór in Glasdrumman both Senior and Junior in 2022.
The Evening began with Ulster Senior Solo Winner Niamh Mc Dowell singing Amhran na bhFiann. This was followed by a minutes Silence for all Gaels, family and friends who are no longer with us, especially our friends and family of Scór.
Club Chairman Gary McGreevy gave a warm welcome to all in attendance, giving a special mention to Paula Magee, Chairperson of Ulster Scór, Donal McNally Down Culture Officer with members of the Down Cultural committee, All Ireland Recitation Winner Donal Morgan, Ruairí Ó Donnáin from CnaG Boirche Íochtar, also friends and family from other clubs around the province.
He then handed proceedings to Mentor Joanne Grant who thanked everyone for the tremendous turn out, she was delighted to see so many Scór friends, family and supporters.
She outlined achievements the Club had over the years in Scór but especially in 2022. The evening of entertainment then started with
The All Ireland Ballad Group Champions Laura Campbell, Donna Feeney, Tara Grant, Niamh McDowell and Cormac Nellis who took to the stage and gave their winning performance of the Branty Boy.
This very much set the scene for the evening where the talent on display was just awesome.
Next up was Carrickcruppen All Ireland Recitation winner Donal Morgan who gave his winning performance of “The Wake”.
His performance just gets better every time, we were very privileged and grateful to Donal for making the journey down to Glasdrumman, treating us to his winning performance.
It was with much sadness to hear of the death of Carrickcruppen Vice-President Tommy Lynch.
Both him and his children were very involved in Scór. We pass our condolences to his family and to the club of Carrickcruppen.
Unfortunately Mullaghbawn All-Ireland Winning Instrumental group were unable to attend due to other commitments.
A treat for the crowd was up next, with our new Scór na nÓg children taking to the stage for the very first time after only a few weeks of practice.
Mentors Joanne & Donna and the children have been working tirelessly with the first rounds of the junior Scór coming up in the next few weeks.
It was an ideal opportunity to showcase the up and coming talent as they took to the stage for the first time.
The crowd absolutely loved the Ballad group of Aoife Burns, Amy Coyne, Aoife Grant, Erin Louise Hammond and Connie O’Neill.
Next up was Blaine Rooney who wowed the crowd when he performed his recitation on stage for the first time ever.
Next up was Each of the winning performances from Ulster & County, Senior Solo Singer Niamh Mc Dowell, County Instrumental Group Niamh Mc Dowell, Saroise Barbour & Donna Feeney, Junior Solo Singer Cara Sloan, and Junior Ballad group.
Winners Cara Sloan, Aoife Grant, and Clodagh Morgan. The entertainment ended with the All Ireland Champions finishing with their popular song ‘Ireland’. A Celebration Cake was presented and refreshments were served.
Paula Magee was invited to say a few words on the stage. She congratulated the Group on their Massive Achievement and encouraged them to savor every bit of the success. ]
She then announced that through her Down PRO role she would have an interview later with the group which will go on Down GAA TV.
This was a great surprise to the group. Nevertheless, they handled it so professionally. Down Culture Officer Donal Mc Nally was next up to say a few words.
He also congratulated the group and the Club as a whole on their remarkable achievements. He said that the display of trophies on the table was testament to the work that has been going on in the Glasdrumman Club to promote Music & Culture.
Such a fantastic night was had by all, the talent was phenomenal and great memories were made that will go down in history.

Irish Life Steps Challenge: It is really hotting up at the top of the leaderboard with two weeks to go. There is little to choose between the top three but if Clare Walsh can maintain her momentum, 6th after week 1, 3rd after week 2 and now 10km ahead of Paula McCann no one will touch her.
There is a gap, but not an insurmountable one, to the chasing pack of Catherine, Peggy, Paddy and Laura. Paddy Walsh is the one to watch as he makes up for a slow start and is pushing though the ranks. Keep up the good work folks.

St John’s GAC will be hosting Trailer Marking Demo with NMDDC on Wednesday 8th February at 8am-1pm.
The purpose is to enable the PSNI to property mark and record the special security number issued to owners of trailers on a national database whereby if a trailer/quad bike is stolen the number can be traced to the owner.
This initiative is part of tackling rural crime and assisting farmers who own expensive cattle trailers/quads and domestic household trailers/quads to have these security marked and the opportunity to talk with the PSNI regards any matters concerning safety and crime.
They have done over 50 of these trailer marking events across the area and have a good attendance but it’s also a way of owners to have free security marking of property by the PSNI who will attend to mark property with a special engraving machine and stencils and provide advice.
