Call for new footpath in Kilcoo
Sinn Féin’s Councillor Leanne McEvoy is calling for the installation of a footpath in Kilcoo.
Sinnxa0Féinxa0representatives are supporting the public demand for the DFI to carry out a road safety assessment in Kilcoo to identify the need for a footpath along the Ballymoney Road.
Cllr Leeanne McEvoy said: “Speaking with local residents, it is clear there are safety concerns over the Ballymoney Road, in particular the stretch connecting the primary school to St Malachy’s Bungalows.
“There are many pedestrians who walk along this road daily, particularly school children, which is extremely dangerous for both them and drivers, especially when visibility is poor and evenings are getting darker.
“Sinn Féin have been calling for the implementation of a footpath for some time and have requested that the Department carry the assessment out as part of their village safety review.
“We need to see this prioritised and carried out as soon as possible to ensure the road is safe for local families.”
