McEvoy Welcomes Support For Transport Scheme

McEvoy Secures Council Support For Home to Hospital Transport Scheme

Following the Active and Healthy Communities Committee meeting on Monday 21st November 2022, Sinn Féin Cllr Leeanne McEvoy proposed more funding for the home to hospital scheme.

Cllr McEvoy said: “I was delighted to secure increased investment for the home to hospital drivers scheme in the Mournes area.

Cllr Leeanne McEvoy.

“This scheme has been hugely beneficial for local people, in particular, those living in more rural areas where public transport is limited, making access to services more difficult.

“Investing in this transport service ensures local residents do not miss out on vital appointments and relieves the stress around how they will get there – tackling issues of rural isolation.

“Providing our rural communities with reliable, efficient transport and ensuring people can access health services when needed is Sinn Fein’s priority.

“Sinn Féin have prioritised health. Our health workers and patients need an Executive up and running now, with a Health Minister in place.

“We need to be making real decisions that tackle the challenges we face and improve services for our rural communities here in the Mournes and right across South Down,” said Cllr McEvoy.
