Downpatrick couple make a big donation in memory of their baby son
Downpatrick couple Clare and Patrick Rogan have raised over £8625, which has been donated to the Forgot Me Not Focus Group, which reaches out to try and help grieving parents and families.
The couple who sadly lost their baby Padraig, organised a car show and coffee morning to raise vital funds for the group in memory of little Padraig.
Clare and Patrick said: “We want to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts who helped us raise this unbelievable amount of money, which will be donated to such a great cause.
“Thank you to our family, friends and the businesses who supported and helped make this day possible.”
This incredible amount of money raised by Clare and Patrick will be used to improve the Bereavement Room in the Labour Ward of the Ulster Hospital.
The couple would like their donation to be used to purchase a reclining chair for dads/partners to sleep on.
This will allow both parents to stay close together after their baby has died, so they can cherish every moment they have with their precious child.
Bereavement Midwife, Susan Stitt said she is thankful for this kind gesture and added: “We are overwhelmed that recently bereaved parents, Clare and Paddy, have been thinking of how they can best support bereavement care for other parents.
“Their very generous donation and it will go a long way to help us to ensure that excellent bereavement care and facilities are provided to our families who need them across the South Eastern HSC Trust area.”
The Forget Me Not focus group provides support to all parents who have been bereaved in the Ulster Hospital.
The user-focused group provides a forum for parents who have been bereaved through miscarriage, stillbirth or the death of their child.
The forum provides an opportunity to discuss the care provided to help us in our commitment to provide a service that is of the highest possible standard.
The aim of the focus group is to identify what we are doing well and also identify areas of our service that could be improved.
