Council Chairperson Opens Books of Condolence Following Creeslough Tragedy
Newry Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Michael Savage, has opened Books of Condolence for the people of Creeslough and County Donegal following the tragic events that unfolded in the village at the weekend.
Books of Condolence will be available for signing for two weeks and are located at the Council’s Headquarters at the Downshire Civic Centre, Downpatrick, and O’Hagan House, Monaghan Row, Newry.
An online Book of Condolence is also available for signing at: www.newrymournedown.org/chairpersons-book-of-condolences.
Chairperson, Cllr Michael Savage said: “Like everyone across this island I feel a great sense of shock and pain for the people of this beautiful peaceful corner of Ireland.
“The scale of the tragedy that has unfolded is beyond comprehension.
“Many people from our district have a strong affinity with this area through their children attending an Gaeltacht or holidaying on a regular basis.
“Our hearts our breaking for the families involved and the entire Donegal community at this time.
“On behalf of the people of Newry Mourne and Down, I offer the families and the wider Creeslough community our deepest condolences and love and reassure them that they are in our prayers today and in the weeks and months ahead.”
All messages will be recorded by Newry Mourne and Down District Council and sent directly to Donegal County Council.
