Sinead Ennis MLA says Sugartown Road safety needs immediate attention

Sinn Féin MLA Sinéad Ennis says urgent action must be taken to make Sugartown Road, Barnmeen, safer following a recent collision.

The South Down MLA said:xa0 “I was contacted by a concerned mother following an accident involving her child getting knocked down on the Sugartown Road in Barnmeen.

“Parents are getting increasingly worried at the speed in which cars are travelling through at.

“Speeding is a serious issue across our towns and villages in South Down. It should not take a fatality before we see action taken to make our roads safer for local communities.xa0

Cllr O’Hare added: “We will be calling on Roads Service to assess the road with the view of reducing the speed limit in the interests of the children attending the local primary school and residents living in the area.”
