Police Appeal After Bangor Assault

Man in custody after serious assault

Detectives in Bangor are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault at Castle Street on Saturday 21st May.

It was reported at around 10pm, that a man, aged in his 60’s, was approached in the street outside licensed premises, by another male who head butted him to the ground and then kicked him on the face and head.

The attack followed an altercation inside the premises a short time earlier. The injured man sustained a number of facial fractures and an injury to one ear as a result of the attack and is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

A 42 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remains in custody assisting officers with their enquiries.
