Newcastle Councillor Carmel O’Boyle welcomed the progress on the social housing scheme and added, “This scheme is the result of six years of hard work and lobbying by the SDLP and will be welcomed by everyone.
“The high level of housing stress in Newcastle will finally be addressed by this project and I am delighted that it will happen in our town.
“I have already been in touch with the Planning Office to ensure that this scheme is granted approval and that all hitches will be quickly ironed out.
“We cannot afford to wait any longer for the provision of these homes. The setting is absolutely beautiful, situated on the edge of Newcastle, with the Mountains of Mourne as their backdrop.” she added.
