He said: “All of us at SERC are incredibly proud to see Barbara honoured with an MBE. This award recognises her inspiring contribution to developing the new generation of lecturers and promoting teaching quality within the existing workforce. “We are delighted that Jean has recognised in this way. Her support role for students is key to providing an inclusive and fully accessible service for all of our students.” Barbara Judge paid tribute to all the SERC staff who contributed to her success and said: “I feel very privileged to mentor and support our future teaching force.  I am proud to see teachers grow in their development of teaching and learning skills, in order to provide the future workforce with the very best learning experience.” Barbara also thanked her work colleagues and both the quality and ICT mentoring teams who provide invaluable support to her in her role and quoted Isaac Newton: ‘If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants’ commenting that it was a delight to work with such talented staff. Jean Liddell spoke of her pride at being honoured, adding: “It is incredible and overwhelming to be included on a list with such amazing people. Obviously an MBE is a tremendous honour and I am delighted to be recognised and rewarded for just doing what I consider to be my job. “I was delighted to be invited to the tree planting ceremony.  It is lovely to be recognised in this lasting way, for the work we all do in Learning Support, and I look forward to visiting ‘my’ Amelanchier Canadensis when it is in full bloom!”
