First Flight Wind Calls For Consultation Feedback

WITH Christmas just around the corner, the project team behind Northern Ireland’s first offshore wind farm project is encouraging local people in County Down and County Louth to complete a feedback questionnaire about the consultation process by Friday 11 January 2013.

First Flight Wind is a consortium comprising B9 Energy, DONG Energy and RE, and has already toured the Down coastal area meeting the local communities.

Sacha Workman of First Flight Wind, right, meets Michael and Catherine   O’€™Loughlin from Mountain and Sea B&B, who stopped by the Newcastle First Flight Wind Information Day which was held at the Slieve Donard Hotel in November.

Sacha Workman, First Flight Wind Community Liaison Team Lead, said: “The lead up to Christmas is such a busy time of the year for everyone, however, we’re encouraging anyone with an interest in the offshore wind farm project off County to take a few moments out of their day to complete and return a questionnaire. If you don’t have one already, you can pick one up at one of the 17 designated Information Points or you can fill one in online at www.firstflightwind.com

“This initial First Flight Wind Feedback Questionnaire asks the public to share their views on how we plan to consult with them. It’s crucial that we get this right so that we can keep local communities informed about project developments in the coming months and years in a timely manner that suits them; we appreciate there’s a lot of information to take on board at this early stage.

“We are keen to get a good response rate from local communities, and we are looking forward to receiving everyone’s input by Friday 11 January 2013. Thanks to those who have already completed and returned a questionnaire. We have enjoyed meeting local community members over the past couple of months at Information Day events and meetings. We would like to wish them all a Happy Christmas, and look forward to further engaging with them in 2013.”
