Castlewellan Regeneration Welcomes Start Of Energy Saving Contract

CASTLEWELLAN Regeneration Ltd has announced the start of their energy saving contract on their two buildings the Lodge and the Corncrane Centre.

Chairman Councillor Eamonn ONeill said: “I am delighted to announce the start of this great contract and to congratulate Cathal McMullan from local firm Alternative Fuels Castlewellan on being awarded the contract. This will bring an injection of work and investment into our area and help to grow and support sustainable energy.dn_screen

“The contract in The Lodge comprises new energy efficiency works to the building consisting of new replacement energy efficient light fittings, installation of new solar panels for provision of hot water, updating heating controls and making good surfaces associated with those works. The total tender amount is £12,650.

In the Corncrane building in the Lower Square in Castlewellan, the contract comprises new energy efficiency works to the building. This consists of new replacement energy efficient light fittings, installation of new oil fired condensing boiler & flue, updating heating controls and making good surfaces associated with those works. The total tender amount for this part of the contract is £18,454. This will be 100% funded by the Big Lottery Fund.”

 Councillor ONeill added:  “Clearly we are delighted with all of this and would thank the Big Lottery Fund for their tremendous support. I would also like to publicly thank Barry Fletcher Architects Castlewellan for planning and managing the process to date and also Margaret Quinn, Project Development Manager at Down District Council and the Council who helped fund our early investigations and the bid preparation.”
